Melia is a member of Costume Designers Guild 892 and Motion Picture Costumers Local 705. She has served as costume department head on commercials with Spectrum, Metro by T-Mobile, McDonald’s and USA Reverse and on a few films.
Melia has maintained a long term relationship with Spectrum, for whom she has styled 15 commercials and counting. The commercial spot, “The One” was recognized with several accolades including the Faxies Award for Multicultural Marketing; the Gold Telly in Regional TV, Business-to-Consumer; the Bronze Telly in Regional TV, Products and Services; the Bronze Telly in Regional TV, Promotional and an ANA Award for Multicultural Excellence.
Melia has worked as Assistant Costume Designer/Key Costumer on Netflix’s feature film Resort To Love and television series’ The CW’s All American Homecoming, Fox’s Our Kind of People, BET’s Games People Play and USA’s Unsolved. Over the course of her career, including Designer, ACD and Key, Melia has held every position in the costume department- Shopper, Fitter and Set Costumer, where she has developed an ability to organize and lead a costume department efficiently, and not to be underestimated, a keen eye for style.
During the emergency absence of the Costume Designer on Games People Play, Melia stepped up from her Key Costumer role, temporarily assumed the Costume Design position and led the department for five episodes, allowing production to operate seamlessly. Melia has been fortunate enough to work on projects with some of the greats including two time Oscar winner Ruth Carter, Sharen Davis, Mona May and Salvadore Perez.
No matter the project, Melia always brings her professionalism and creativity. She is currently based out of Los Angeles.
